To get the inside scoop on the impact these women have on the EV infrastructure industry, I sat down to have candid chats that dive deep into their roles, dreams, and inspirations while also getting a peak into their unique personalities and perspectives. From managing projects in EV solutions to leading the charge on innovative initiatives, their journeys are nothing short of inspirational.
To begin my exploration behind the scenes of nations leading EV infrastructure company, I interviewed the women that make up over 19% of the team. I found myself captivated as their stories paint a picture of a diverse group of women using innovation and determination to make their mark in the industry. The women describe diverse career paths that are almost as diverse as their current roles. Their stories are not just narratives of personal achievement but beacons of inspiration.
Do you ever wonder how women enter into a traditionally male dominated industry?
From childhood aspirations to impactful careers, the ladies of Miller EV did not always have electric vehicles and charging on their mind. In fact, Kerri Stewart, Chief Strategy Officer and President of Miller EV Solutions, once dreamed of a career in forensic pathology or law, and discusses her unexpected transition into leading strategic initiatives in sustainable transport. Her journey underscores a powerful message, “the most rewarding paths often begin with a step into the unknown”.
Similarly, Program Manager of Marketing and Analytics, Nicola Hebert, who had once envisioned a life on stage, now plays a pivotal role in shaping the EV Solution’s marketing voice. Her story resonated with me as a testament to the transformative power of embracing one’s skills in new contexts. It was during these reflections that Angellyna Bui, an EV Project Coordinator known for her sharp insights and dynamic approach, shared a thought that resonated deeply with me, “I’m thrilled about our move towards more technological solutions and the focus on developing talent from within. We’re not just building infrastructure; we’re building leaders.” The common theme across all of their interviews, the road less traveled is the one that leads to the most rewarding destinations.
Essential Skills to Build the Future
During my interviews, I was struck with a consensus of vital skills for career growth: resourcefulness, patience, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning.
Lindsey Callaway, an EV Project Manager, emphasized the importance of resourcefulness and patience, especially when navigating the complex nature of groundbreaking projects. Kayla Franklin, Marketing & Analytics Associate, highlighted adaptability and flexibility as essential in keeping pace with the dynamic EV industry.
Beyond technical skills, the ladies talk about the power of effective communication and the strategic use of data. They highlighted the importance of being able to bridge diverse teams and leverage data analytics to inform decisions, underscoring the multidimensional nature of innovation in the EV space.
Yet, it was their shared passion for a sustainable future that truly inspired me. “I loved how passionate the company has become about this generational opportunity. Knowing that we are leading the charge in sustainable transportation and being on the cusp of innovation is exciting.” Julianne Hutchison, Sr. Business Analyst remarked, capturing the essence of what drives the team at Miller EV Solutions.
Breaking Barrier to Build Careers
While construction and EV infrastructure might be primarily associated with men holding the majority of the industry, the women of Miller EV Solutions are flipping the script and challenging stereotypes. Behind every groundbreaking project and every new charging station, there is likely a woman who faced challenges and turned them into triumphs. Take Debbie Simpson, Project Administrator, as an example – her confidence and expertise command respect and pave the way for others.
